Traditional maritime simulators rely on large multi-screen setups and projectors, what make them costly, slow to deploy, and limited in training performance. Access to simulation time is restricted by physical infrastructure and facility size.

Solution

By integrating Varjo XR headsets with Wärtsilä’s simulation platform, trainees enter highly immersive virtual bridge and engine room training environments while using real cockpit controls. Scenarios support multiple users in the same VR space, full 360° visuals, chroma-key and masking for seamless real-to-digital transitions, and motion-platform feedback for added realism.
