XR Driving Simulator

Developed by Hypr10 for BAE Systems Hägglunds, the BvS10 Deployable XR Driving Simulator is a compact mixed reality (MR) solution that offers prospective customers a immersive experience of the BvS10 vehicle’s renowned “Go Everywhere” capabilities. The BvS10Sim showcases how integrating extended reality (XR) with established simulation technologies achieves a higher level of interoperability and immersion, enhancing understanding of vehicle capabilities and operational performance.

Challenge

Demonstrating the full range of the BvS10’s terrain mobility and operational versatility can be challenging—especially in environments where live trials are logistically complex, costly, or impractical. BAE Systems Hägglunds sought a portable and immersive way to showcase the vehicle’s capabilities to customers worldwide, without the constraints of physical deployment.

Solution

Hypr10 designed and built a deployable MR simulator that combines high-fidelity virtual environments with real physical feedback. The simulator integrates:

• Varjo XR-4 headset for photorealistic visuals and accurate real-world alignment.
• VBS4 platform that serves as the simulation backbone, ensuring compatibility with defense simulation standards and supporting terrain and vehicle dynamics.
• D-BOX motion platform to replicate terrain response and vehicle movement for enhanced spatial immersion.

Together, these components create a seamless experience that allows users to feel and understand the BvS10’s power, mobility, and adaptability in a safe, controlled, and portable format.
